I did the Yampa River trip with Dinosaur River Expeditions in June of 2024. I cannot recommend the Yampa and DRE highly enough. My trip was truly wonderful. I would... read more absolutely do it again, and I am planning to. The guides were very kind and friendly. The unexpected delight of the trip for me was the diversity of experiences, joy, and enthusiasm that Joe, Marcus, Rain, and Luke brought to the trip. Their interest in the geology, biology, and history of the region and their obvious love of rivers and exploration were infectious. I also appreciated the in-person pre-trip briefing, which was short but informative, and helped me adjust what items I brought on the trip. Every day had a great mixture of hours of relaxation in beautiful camp sites with great views, multiple exciting rapids on a wild and spectacular river, hours of calm drifting and gaping at the clouds and amazing canyons, hot sunshine, cool swimming spots, short hikes to scenic vistas and archaeological sites, wildlife sightings, etc., etc. Also, the food was varied, well-cooked, ample, and delicious. There were fresh vegetables throughout the trip and what seemed to me like a lavish cooked breakfast every day. I felt extremely pampered. I knew that the rapids would be exciting. I wasn't prepare for how fulfilling the drifting, pondering, and lazing around camp with my book would be. The only thing wrong with my trip was that it ended. It was everything I hoped it would be, and much, much more.
